Welcome to this week’s edition of Cybercade. If you’re new here—Cybercade is a weekly game discovery newsletter where I share hand-picked upcoming and newly released games across all genres. This week we’re looking at five promising new games covering Action, Adventure, Casual, Indie, RPG, Simulation, and Strategy—plus a nostalgic return to one of the most important city-builders ever made.
Last Report looks great. And I'm surprised it took this long for someone to make a game like Xenopurge. Maybe people were worried they couldn't do a better job than Lieutenant William Gorman.
I am not sure how many players Xenopurge will appeal to. It appeals to me personally and I like this type of game. But I also started playing games on the C64.
Nice write-up! SimCity2000 was amazing, and I loved it way back when I played it in the early 2000s! I switched between that game, RollerCoaster Tycoon, and Zoo Tycoon all the time 😆! Thanks for sharing!
I remember playing on the Macintosh classic computers of ages past...and unleashing volcanoes, tornadoes, tsunamis, and UFOs on prebuilt cities (because...why would I destroy my own? lol)
The other PSP game I really liked (but sucked at) was Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman. A dungeon builder where the way you create your dungeon allow your monsters to evolve into bigger and badder versions through combining and patterns. It was really clever.
Oh yes. I have the game too. I got it because I found the design of the game so fun. But I didn't get very far with it. I can remember that it suddenly became very difficult.
I spent so many hours on Sim City 2000...

Wow your game discovery is so spot on for me
I'm glad you like it. :)

I also spent a lot of time playing SimCity2000 :) I loved creating as many Archologies as possible. The Tycoon games are also very cool. Good times.

Hahaha. I started reading and wondered why you would destroy your own city. Then I saw this at the end: “Why would I destroy my own city” :D
Loved PATAPON
Me too. I still have a PSP with Patapon here :)
I just recently found out from my boy that they are going to bring it out again.

lol...you made me want to go back and see how the game played. Im watching a video of the full story mode gameplay.
Nice. I had totally forgotten that I even had the game.
Shooty Shooty Robot Invasion has such a damn amazing game title and that artwork speaks directly to me. Nice find. WISHLISTED!
It looks like a lot of fun :)
The figures definitely reminded me a bit of PaRappa the Rapper.
Patapon on the Steam Deck... Never thought I'd live to see that!
You're right. I hadn't even thought about the Steam Deck. But I also saw that it's coming to the Switch.
